Product Development Engineer

Job description

You will be in charge of the specification, development, design, manufacture of components and subsystems for new Skytree prototypes and test apparatus; this will include understanding the requirements of the business, full specifications of systems and subsequent assembly and operation. You will take into account heat transfer and airflow modelling of our designs and provide recommendations to the wider engineering team. You will provide key inputs for concept development, innovation, and optimisation of the Skytree technology. Further, you will support our laboratory team to improve the robustness of future Skytree devices and deliver our designs for mass production to our partners

The Role

  • Work with the Engineering team to develop designs for the next generation prototypes and lab testing equipment
  • Work from concept generation and selection through to assembly and commissioning
  • Produce documentation, status reports and operating procedures
  • Develop internal procedures and recommendations for standardisation of equipment and components
  • Communicate with collaboration partners to allow the integrated functionality of future demonstrators
  • Drive innovation and development of technology
  • Support the surrounding Skytree team

Requirements

Your Profile and Experience

  • Degree in a related field (Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering) + 3-6 years working experience
  • Experience in CAD and the production of engineering drawings for manufacture
  • Experience in design for mass production
  • Familiar with a range of manufacturing processes (SLS printing, CNC machining, etc.)
  • Preferable experience programming in C (Arduino, microprocessors)
  • Familiar with control systems and sensors
  • Familiar with rigorous testing procedures in order to produce reliable data
  • Experience with sourcing partners and suppliers
  • Able to write clear, concise technical reports
  • Ability to work independently
  • Reliable, open-minded team player and self-starter
  • Enjoy being part of a diverse, multi-cultural team
  • Able to set and manage priorities regarding multiple, parallel projects
  • You are fluent in English, both verbally and in written form
  • You have a working permit for the Netherlands
