SKYTREE

About Us

Skytree is a spinout of the European Space Agency (ESA). Our air capture technology was originally developed to make longer space missions possible by extracting the CO2 exhaled by astronauts on board of spacecraft. This technology was developed as part of the a long-term project launched in 1996, and with a total budget of €70 million. It will be implemented next year in the International Space Station's Columbus Module.

Applying Skytree technology to heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems reduces costs by increasing energy efficiency and at the same time improves indoor air quality (IAQ). Currently ventilation systems have an energy intensive process which draws in outdoor air, which is both costly and potentially pulls in polluted air.

Skytree units solve this problem by removing CO2 and water directly from indoor spaces, enabling the air to be recirculated at the same temperature. This drastically reduces the volume of outdoor air a ventilation system has to process, therefore requiring much less energy use.

We are headquartered in the heart of Amsterdam and connected to Yes!Delft, Startupbootcamp, Impact!Hub, Climate-KIC and the ESA Business Incubator.
